Automotive Technology Students Gain Hands-on Experience
Raritan Valley Community College’s Automotive Technology students in the Suspension and Steering Systems class recently removed and installed the “Rack and Pinion” steering gearbox in two Ram 1500 trucks that were supplied by the Mopar CAP program.
The RVCC lab has a variety of cars, but to perform a task with two identical vehicles is a rare opportunity for students to compare their efforts and to collaborate as a team. Additionally, replacing the vehicle’s steering gearbox is of moderate difficulty, which helps to instill confidence in the students and provides an excellent educational experience.
The class was led by Wayne Moschella, Automotive Skills Lab Coordinator.
