EARLY COLLEGE STUDENT - What's Next

I’m a high school student entering grades 9,10, 11 or 12 with a 3.0 or higher GPA and I want to take college classes while I am still in high school. We offer two options:
  • Take classes at RVCC's Branchburg campus (Early College)
  • Take RVCC college classes at my high school (Concurrent Enrollment)

Take classes at RVCC's Branchburg campus (Early College)

1) REGISTER FOR CLASSES

  • Complete the Early College Registration Form
You will need to attach the following documents with the Registration Form
    • Submit unofficial high school transcript with GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • If you are interested in taking an English, Foreign Language or Mathematics course or a course that requires a pre-requisite, you will need to submit proof of exemptions and/or the pre-requisite requirement.
    • Timeline awareness:
      • The completed form along with all signatures must be received in Admissions in order to be processed prior to the start of the semester. NOTE: Courses will be registered based on availability upon receipt of the Registration Form.
  • Request proof of immunization from your physician

2) PAY TUITION

Pay all tuition and fees by required dates.

Take RVCC college classes at my high school (Concurrent Enrollment)

You've spoken to your high school counselor and applied now:

1)  Document Submission

The high school must submit the student's unofficial transcript, parental consent form, and SAT/ACT scores (if applicable) to the K-12 Program Manager prior to the CEP registration deadline.

For English and math courses (or courses that require an English or math prerequisite), students will either need to complete the RVCC Accuplacer placement test (speak to your high school counselor about taking the test at your high school, if that option is available) or have SAT/ACT scores that meet the RVCC test score exemptions. To view SAT/ACT exemptions or to prepare for the Accuplacer, please visit the placement testing web page.

2) Registration

K-12 Partnerships will register eligible students for the assigned course(s) and inform the high school when students are registered. Students cannot register for Concurrent Enrollment classes on their own.   The high school will receive confirmation and notify students of their registration status.

3) Payment

Concurrent Enrollment Program students have three options to submit payment:

Option 1: Pay using Lion’s Den

Step 1: Log onto Lion’s Den via the RVCC website using your RVCC credentials (make sure you have your cell phone for multifactor authentication)
Please contact the RVCC Help Desk at 908-526-1200 Ext. 7887 or email helpdesk@raritanval.edu if you are having issues logging onto Lion’s Den or need to reset your password.
Step 2: Click on the "Account Detail for Term" tile
Step 3: You will see details about the balance and you can click on the Pay Now icon to make a payment by credit or debit card (please be sure to pick the right term for the payment).

If you see a late fee on your account, please DO NOT pay the late fee. Concurrent Enrollment Students are not charged a late fee.
If you are having issues using Lion’s Den to make payment, please use Nelnet.

Option 2: Pay Online

Step 1:  Visit https://www.raritanval.edu/paying-for-college/pay-tuition-now and click on the Student Account Payment link. Payment can be made via credit or debit card.
Step 2: Click on Student Account Payment

  • Please complete all sections and include your RVCC ID number (G#) where indicated so the payment can be applied to the right account.

  • Please include the right term: Fall 2023 or Spring 2024

  • You will not be able to see your tuition balance using Nelnet so please include the correct amount. If you do not know your tuition balance, please contact your high school for the information.

Option 3: Pay by Check

Once you have verified the balance via Lion’s Den, payment by check or money order can be sent as follows:
Check or money order by mail made out to RVCC, Attn: Finance Office, P.O. Box 3300, Somerville, New Jersey 08876); Please include your G Number and “CEP Tuition” on the check or money order so the payment can be applied to the right account.

Parents/Families also have the option to set up their accounts to pay CEP tuition. Click on Parents Pay Tuition Now (students must have created a Parent Account to allow parent access) to set up a parent/family account. Click on How to Create a Parent Account for details.

The CEP rate for the 2023-2024 academic year is $240 per CEP course.
The CEP tuition rate is subject to change annually.

Non-Payment for CEP Course(s)

The student/family or high school (if applicable) is responsible for the payment upon successful completion of registration. A hold will be placed on the student account and the student will not be able to register for additional CEP course(s) during the next term if payment is not received. Please check with your high school about RVCC’s CEP payment and refund deadlines.
