New Athletics Director Named
Joe Pavlow has been hired as the new Director of Athletics at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg. Pavlow comes to the College with a wealth of experience as a coach and administrator.
Prior to his arrival at RVCC, Pavlow worked as the Director of Athletics at Rosemont College. Under his direction the department captured its first-ever CSAC Championships, in all totaling five championships across three different programs. Pavlow was actively engaged in committee membership on campus, in the conference, and on the national level.
Commenting on his goals as the new Director, Pavlow said, “I want our Athletics program to be student centered and focused on their development, welfare, and experience. We want our student-athletes to grow inside and outside of the classroom, be focused on their safety and wellbeing, and ensure that their time at RVCC is rewarding and meaningful.”
Pavlow previously served as the Associate Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Penn State-Abington. In his role, he was responsible for all internal day-to-day operations. His coaching tenure at Penn State-Abington began in 2008 when he was named Head Baseball Coach at the school. In Pavlow’s last seven years as Head Coach, the team won five North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball regular season titles. He holds the Penn State-Abington record for wins with 181. Pavlow was named conference Coach of the Year in 2009, 2016, and 2017.
Pavlow’s previous positions include serving as Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Rutgers University in Camden. He also taught math and social studies at Paul VI High School in Haddonfield. Pavlow received a BA in Economics from Rutgers University and an MS in Sports Science, Sports Administration from Lock Haven University.
Raritan Valley Community College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIX and the Garden State Athletic Conference. RVCC has been represented at the state and national levels in many sports, enabling students to compete for athletic scholarships at four-year colleges and universities. RVCC currently offers eight athletic programs that participate in NJCAA DII or NJCAA DIII levels.
Scholarship NJCAA DII programs include Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball, and Softball. Non-scholarship NJCAA DIII programs include Men’s & Women’s Soccer, Golf, and Women's Volleyball.
