Programs for Kids, Teens Planned in October
Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) is offering a variety of kids and teens classes starting in October. The following programs will be offered at the College’s Branchburg campus:
Keyboarding: Students ages 8-14 perfect their touch keyboarding skills and learn the fundamentals of word processing. The class will be held Saturdays, October 6-27, from 9-10:30 a.m. The fee is $80.
Scratch Programming: Students ages 8-10 learn the fundamental concepts of programming while creating multimedia programs. The class will be held Saturdays, October 6-27, from 9-10:30 a.m. The fee is $79.
Fun with Photoshop: Students ages 11-15 are taught the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop. The class will be held Saturdays, October 6-27, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The fee is $105.
Study Skills: Students ages 10-15 learn how to improve their listening, note taking, reading comprehension, memorization and test preparation skills. The class will be held Saturdays, October 6-27, from 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. The fee is $90.
Public Speaking for Kids: Students ages 8-12 receive tips for delivering effective informative speeches, working in groups and outlining speeches. The class will be held Saturday, October 6, from 10 a.m-1 p.m. The fee is $35.
Write On: Students ages 13-17 explore methods to help get their thoughts down on paper or an electronic device. The class will be held Saturday, October 13, from 9 a.m.-noon. The fee is $35.
Learn to Sew: Students ages 8-12 learn how to sew by following a commercial sewing pattern. The class will be held Saturdays, October 6-27, from 9 a.m.-noon. All materials are included in the $175 fee.
ACT Review: The course covers the various sections of the ACT test including: English Grammar, Mathematics (Algebra 1 & Geometry), Science (Deductive Reasoning), Reading, and Essay Writing. The class will be held Sundays, October 7-December 2, from 2-5 p.m. No class will be held on November 25. The fee is $288.
Chemical Wizardry: Students ages 6-12 create Flubber, Silly Putty, Super Hi-Bounce balls, and more while learning about atoms and bonding, chemical reactions, and polymer chemistry. The class will be held Saturdays, October 13 and 20, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The fee is $125.
