RVCC’s Cosmetology and Esthetics programs feature an accomplished teaching staff, innovative teaching methods, and opportunities for job shadowing and salon practicum. The programs offer proactive job placement for graduates and other components critical to student success. RVCC’s next daytime Cosmetology program starts January 24, and the next Esthetics daytime class starts January 29.
In the past few years, 90 percent of RVCC’s Cosmetology students have found employment in the field and 100 percent have passed their state licensing exam. According to information from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists was projected to grow 13 percent from 2014-2024, while employment for skincare specialists was projected to grow 12 percent.
During the Automotive Technology information session, prospective students will have an opportunity to learn about the innovative and successful program, meet with staff and faculty, and explore the exciting career potential in the field of automotive technology. The Auto Tech program offers Subaru and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) manufacturer training. Program graduates will attain additional industry credentials from Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS), Snap-On, and other industry partners to allow students to stand out to potential employers.
In designing the Automotive Technology program, RVCC’s education team partnered with local employers and expert workers to detail the knowledge, skills, traits and behaviors essential to becoming a successful Automotive Technician. The program, which has been highly praised by area employers, is now providing the ASE student certification testing. This is the nationally recognized automotive technicians’ credentials for assessment of skills. In the past two years, 90 percent of program graduates have obtained employment in the automotive field. Graduates have worked at manufacturer dealerships, franchise repair shops and privately owned shops.
