• Designate a workspace. It doesn’t have to be a traditional home office but find a quiet space in your home where you can truly focus on your classes. Make sure you have all the proper technology you need, such as a webcam, speakers, and reliable Internet service.
• Create a schedule. Try to designate specific times of day for completing assignments or studying for exams. This will help with time management while keeping you as organized and productive as possible. Perhaps mornings before work are for homework time and Sunday nights are for study sessions.
• Interact with your classmates. If you live near each other and schedules align, try meeting with your classmates in person once or twice for a coffee and a study session. It can be beneficial from a social standpoint as well as drive camaraderie in class. If a physical meet-up isn’t possible, schedule an online meeting or study session with a smaller breakout group.
• Stay in touch with your instructor. Just because you’re not attending in-person office hours doesn’t mean contact with your instructor is out of reach. Many instructors are open to scheduling one-on-one virtual meetings with students who have questions or need guidance. You can also stay in touch via email or direct messaging in your learning platform.
