Heejung Kim, Raritan Valley Community College Adjunct Associate Professor in the Arts & Design department, recently presented exhibitions of her work in Korea. Professor Kim’s artwork features a variety of media, including acrylic paint and ink, fabric, nails, Korean paper, and wood.

She says of her work, “I visualize an invisible yet possible world, presenting a surrealistic feel with prominent symbolic elements and positive insights from Eastern philosophy. My creative process involves repetitive actions that record my meditation and time, which are reflected in my artist books, installations, and drawings.”

Her solo exhibitions in Korea included:

•    “Transmuted Existence”: A solo exhibition at Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art in Korea, June 22-August 4

•    “From the Mundane World to the Celestial World”: A solo exhibition at Hae Eun Gallery, Seoul, Korea, July 27-August 13

•    “The Universe Born by the Ordinary”: A solo exhibition at Gallery Dam, Seoul, Korea, July 30-August 10

Professor Kim also served as Artist in Resident at the Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art from May through August.
