Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Board of Trustees welcomed new member Caren Bateman of Readington at its meeting held Tuesday, January 31. Bateman was appointed to the Board by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

“We welcome Caren Bateman to the RVCC Board of Trustees as she carries the legacy of her late father, Senator Raymond H. Bateman, and his many decades of service to the College. Caren brings to the Board a deep sense of commitment to the success of RVCC and its students, as well as a great understanding of the College and its important role in the community,” said RVCC President Michael J. McDonough.

Caren Bateman is the owner of the Somerville-based Shoebox Computer Services, Inc., which specializes in QuickBooks accounting and bookkeeping services. In the early 1980s, she worked in the federal government in the Office of then Vice President George H. W. Bush. She also has been employed by Ortho Pharmaceutical in Raritan.

Bateman is a former Board member of the American Cancer Society and is past President of Temple Beth-El in Hillsborough, where she also served on the Board of Trustees. She was a Girl Scout leader for 13 years in Hunterdon County.

Bateman received a BA in Chemistry from the University of Vermont.

Raritan Valley Community College’s main campus is located at 118 Lamington Road in Branchburg, NJ.
