The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg will present a performance of Call of the Wild: Illustrated Edition, Thursday, November 16, at 10 a.m.

The 60-minute show, which will kick off RVCCArts’ School-Time series for children and young teens and their families, is geared for audience members in grades 3-8.

Jack London’s classic tale comes to life on stage in this multimedia adventure. The production mixes performance and storytelling with projected illustrations to tell the story of Buck, the magnificent offspring of a St. Bernard and a Scottish collie.

Kidnapped from his lavish life on a California estate and sent to work as a sled dog during the great Klondike Gold Rush of the 1800s, Buck becomes the most famous dog in the northland’s history. Through his adventures, he discovers the endurance and strength of his wild, primal ancestors. The show offers a thrilling tale of courage and survival.

Call of the Wild: Illustrated Edition uses 180-degree projections that surround the performer and provide scenic, artistic, and historical context to the show through their content. The images feature a unique mix of Philip R. Goodwin’s classical illustrations from the book’s first edition, period photographs, and brand-new drawings and animations created by artist Michael Rae.

Tickets for all performances in the School-Time Series cost $8 per person; one free chaperone ticket is provided for every 15 tickets bought.
