Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Arts & Design department will present the 20th Annual RVCC Juried Student Art Exhibition, November 10-December 1, in the Art Gallery at the College’s Branchburg campus. The exhibition is being coordinated by Darren McManus, Associate Professor and Art Gallery Director.

The opening reception will be held in the RVCC Art Gallery on Friday, November 10, from 5-7 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Student artwork completed for visual art, graphic design, or interior design classes during the past year—since the Fall 2022 Semester—will be featured in the exhibition. Selected work will span a variety of media including ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, graphic design, digital and multimedia, photography, illustration, interior design, video, and printmaking.

Each student was permitted to submit up to three pieces of artwork for consideration. The guest juror for this year’s exhibition is visual artist and Executive Director of the West Windsor Arts Center, Aylin Green. Green will evaluate all the entries, make the final selections for the exhibition, and determine the “best in show” award winners.

As the Executive Director of West Windsor Arts, Green is responsible for overall administration of the arts council, with development and oversight of all facets of the organization including artistic programming, fundraising, marketing, financial planning, and strategy implementation. A practicing artist and experienced curator, Green has exhibited her sculpture and paintings at traditional and alternative art venues throughout the region for the last 20 years—including several public iron pours—and her work is held in many private collections. Public art projects have included murals in the city of Trenton and the grant funded Trenton Art Puzzle project.

Green’s artwork focuses on exploring mythologies, dreams, scientific theories, and interpretations of events while gathering inspiration from the crusty tables of flea markets, the sewing boxes of fashionable women, and the colorful graffiti of city streets. She holds a Master’s of Education from Tufts University in Boston, MA, and a BFA in Sculpture from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. She is a longtime resident of Lambertville, NJ.

Gallery hours are Mondays, 3-8 p.m.; Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; Wednesdays, 3-8 p.m.; Thursdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Fridays, 1-4 p.m. On Friday, November 10, the Art Gallery will not open until 5 p.m. For further information, contact Arts & Design, 908-218-8876.
