RVCC Majors:

Liberal Arts Social Science
Communication Studies

Why RVCC:

Originally, I was set on a 4-year college but, because of its affordability, I chose RVCC. Plus, it was close to home. After spending a little bit of time on campus, I realized that it was the perfect fit! Attending RVCC is like going to the "Harvard of community colleges."

The RVCC Advantage:

During my time at RVCC, I was able to build life-long friendships. We always check up on one another and encourage each other to keep moving forward. We often talk about how influential RVCC was on our growth. For instance, at RVCC, you have the benefit of being able to learn at your own pace. And, the faculty and community are there to help you succeed. The opportunities are truly limitless! RVCC offers passionate instructors, state-of-the-art amenities and helpful resources. It’s a no brainer. RVCC is the way to go!

Why I chose my program:

One of the RVCC professors played a big role in the school that I chose after RVCC. He encouraged me to pick the school that I thought would be the best decision in the long run. I selected UNC because I could transfer up to 64 credits and begin as a Junior.

Among the plethora of courses that I’ve taken at RVCC, I felt that the Communications classes resonated most. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to connect with others on an interpersonal level. I hope to utilize my strengths so that I can one day thrive in this discipline.

Professors:

The professors at RVCC are available and eager to help you succeed. They are always willing to help and provide you with the tools that you need. They are your mentor but also, your friend.

RVCC Activities:

My favorite group on campus is SLAP (Student Life Activity Planners) because they offer several ways for students to get involved. My favorite club was the Filipino P.E.A.C.E. Club although, unfortunately, they no longer offer this club.

Future Plans:

I currently attend the University of North Carolina, studying Communications. After I graduate from UNC, I hope to return to RVCC to work either in advising and counseling students or in the marketing department.
