Student Jazz Ensemble to Perform April Concert
Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Student Jazz Ensemble will perform in concert Thursday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m., in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus.
The group is directed by John Loehrke of New York City.
The ensemble will perform pieces by a variety of jazz artists, including Duke Ellington, Sammy Nestico, George Cables, Pat Metheny, Errol Garner, and Eddie Durham. The group also will play music from the great American songbook featuring pieces by Victor Schertzinger, Jimmy Van Heusen, and Johnny Greene. The concert also will include jazz versions of pop tunes by Stevie Wonder and Frank Zappa. The main attraction of these performances will feature spontaneous improvisations by student musicians.
The Student Jazz Ensemble includes the following members: Keith Bernstein, Branchburg; Nicholas Angelo and Jon Loree, Hillsborough; Samantha Gonzalez and Steven Comanda, Somerville; Rafael Alvarez and Matt Zacek, Flemington; David Scala, Lebanon Borough; Rim Jalal, Edison; Evan Acocella, Clinton; Gabby Taylor and Karl MacQueen, Phillipsburg; Joy Auerbach, Montgomery; Pablo Ramirez-Orosco, Somerset; Andrew Lawson, Sparta; Sebastian Friedermann, Ringoes; Tony Siniscalco, Readington; Richard Bergacs, Frenchtown; Kyle Doremus, Springfield; Chris Compton, Long Hill; Lindsey Vernon, Bridgewater; Tommy McGourty, Bethlehem; Scott O’Donnell, Piscataway; and Brian Hewitt, Stockton.
