RVCC Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week
Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg joined the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development in celebrating the 7th Annual National Apprenticeship Week, November 15-21. The events included showcasing the College’s Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive, HVAC, and Healthcare apprentice programs with presentations from industry stakeholders and apprentice alumni.
RVCC workforce students were able to meet with employers and explore the potential career pathways their education and training supports. In addition, RVCC faculty and administration honored former apprentices who have established themselves as qualified, capable, and high-wage earning members of the workforce upon graduating from the College’s apprenticeship programs.
Through RVCC’s participation in the Growing Apprenticeship in Nontraditional Sectors (GAINS), Pre-Apprenticeship in Career Education (PACE), and Healthworks Scaling Apprenticeship grants, the College supports students in meaningful academic experiences that prepare them for entering the workforce. The apprenticeship model provides a pipeline for students to earn wages while they receive training. On-the-job learning creates an environment where students can apply their training in context, fulfill the growing demand of industry needs, and ultimately continue to close the skills gaps for employers.
