Theatre to Present “Sail Away,” a Discovery Play for Toddlers

Parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to introduce their toddlers to the magic of live performance when the Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College presents Treehouse Shakers’ Sail Away in March. Performances are scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Wednesday, March 11, at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

The 45-minute production, geared for audiences ages 18-24 months and their caregivers, is part of the Theatre’s School-Time series. The shows offer educational field trip opportunities for school groups and homeschoolers.

Treehouse Shakers’ Sail Away is a joyful, oceanic discovery play. Specially designed for early walkers, this immersive experience encourages toddlers to wiggle, move, and explore freely as they embark on a sensory journey through the wonders of the ocean. With three performers guiding the adventure as dancers, puppeteers, and playmakers, Sail Away uses gentle visuals, sounds, objects, and an open concept of play to create a safe and engaging environment. This first-time theatrical experience nurtures curiosity, movement, and sensory exploration, making it an enriching program for families, as well as early childhood educators.

Tickets for Sail Away and all School-Time shows cost $8 per person; one free chaperone ticket is provided for every 15 tickets bought.
