Theatre to Offer Magic Summer Camp in July for Kids, Teens
Children and teenagers interested in honing their magic skills this summer are invited to participate in Kevin Spencer’s Magic Camp at The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College. The half-day magic summer camp, scheduled for July 9-13, is designed for children and teens ages 8-16. It will be held at the College’s Branchburg campus.
Session I, for children ages 8-10, will meet July 9-13 from 9 a.m.-noon. Session II, for campers ages 11-16, will meet July 9-12 from 2-5 p.m., and July 13 from 9 a.m.-noon (joining Session I campers). The groups will present a combined performance at The Theatre at RVCC on Friday, July 13, at 7 p.m.
During the camp program, International Magician of the Year Kevin Spencer will teach campers how to perform incredible tricks with everyday objects. The camp combines learning magic tricks with storytelling, music, theatre and creative movement. Through the art of magic, campers will explore their curiosity, develop their magical creativity, and discover new confidence. Students will perform tricks with ropes, cards, rubber bands, paperclips, money, and even participate in a giant illusion. Campers also will learn how to select music and write a script to go along with their presentation. At the end of the week, all participants will perform a live show for family and friends.
Each session is limited to 20 campers. Kevin Spencer provides all materials for participants, including magic boxes and all magic tricks that will be learned throughout the week. The cost is $150 per person.
Camp information and a link to the registration form can be found at www.rvccArts.org, or contact Lisa Melillo at 908-648-8549 or lisa.melillo@raritanval.edu. Reservations are limited.
Raritan Valley Community College’s main campus is located at 118 Lamington Road in Branchburg, NJ.
