Students in Raritan Valley Community College’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program, led by their advisors Kim Meany and Beau Younker, collected two-and-a-half carloads of donated school supplies this summer during drives held at Walmart in Clinton and at the College’s Branchburg campus.

The students, members of RVCC’s Student Occupational Therapy Assistant Association (SOTAA), brought the supplies to United Way of Hunterdon County’s Volunteer Center in Flemington, where they then helped sort, count, prepare inventories and move the supplies to a storage area. The school supplies will be among those donated to 1,200 Hunterdon County elementary, middle and high school students.

This is the fourth year that the College has participated in United Way’s “Tools 4 Schools” program, which helps ensure that all children in the community have the right tools to start the school year ready to learn.

RVCC offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree program in Occupational Therapy Assistant. The program combines classroom instruction with clinical training in a community setting. To learn more about the program, contact Beau Younker, beau.younker@raritanval.edu
