Student Jazz Ensemble to Play in Concert

Raritan Valley Community College’s Student Jazz Ensemble will perform in concert Thursday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m., in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus.

The group is directed by John Loehrke of New York City.

The ensemble will perform pieces by a variety of jazz artists, including Sonny Rollins, Pat Metheny, Horace Silver, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus and John Coltrane. The group also will perform music from the great American songbook featuring music by Irving Berlin, Charles Trenet, and Jimmy VanHeusen. The highlights of these performances will feature spontaneous improvisations by student musicians.

The Student Jazz Ensemble includes the following members: Keith Bernstein and Chris Shaffer, Branchburg; Jason Zujkowski, Manville; Keryn Williams, North Plainfield; Steven Comanda, Somerville; Zach Seif, Middlesex; Evan Acocella, Clinton; Rimsha Jaial, Edison; Chris Compton, Long Hill; Daniel Eppes, Jeff Stollery, Hillsborough; Sebastian Friedermann, Flemington; David Scala, Lebanon Borough; Sara Abramo, Belvidere; Anthony Martinez, Plainfield; Ishmael Cruz, Somerset; Joy Auerbach, Montgomery; Dan Hogan, Martinsville; Anthony DeAngelo, Asbury; and Jake Buxton, Milford.
