Series on US Presidential Elections Slated at RVCC

Just in time for November’s presidential election, Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Community Education department will offer a four-part series on the current election and the history of United States presidential elections.

The series will be led by Lawrence Bashe, who has been an adjunct professor at Rutgers University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Union County College. He recently taught a course on the History of US Presidential Elections, lectured to a local historical society on "The Legacy of Woodrow Wilson: Good & Bad," and spoke on the differences and similarities between the 2016 US presidential election and past elections. Bashe also has lectured on a variety of economic issues, including "The 2008 US Credit & Liquidity Crisis," “The History of the Federal Reserve System & the US Economy," and "The History of Income Inequality and the US Economy.” He recently retired from a career in state and local government, as was as investment banking.

Participants do not need to attend all four classes in the series. The following sessions will be held at RVCC’s Branchburg campus.

The Constitutional and Legal Basis of US Presidential Elections, Tuesday, October 4, from 1-3 p.m., and repeated from 7-9 p.m. The fee per session is $25.

The Development of Political Parties and Their Effect on US Presidential Elections, Tuesday, October 11, from 1-3 p.m., and repeated from 7-9 p.m. The fee per session is $25.

Key Issues That Have Affected US Presidential Elections, Tuesday, October 18, from 1-3 p.m., and repeated from 7-9 p.m. The fee per session is $25.

Specific Elections Affecting the History of US Presidential Elections, Tuesday, October 25, from 1-3 p.m., and repeated from 7-9 p.m. The fee per session is $25.
