RVCC to Hold Open House & Information Session for New Mechanical Engineering Technology Program
Learn more about Raritan Valley Community College’s new Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program at an Open House & Information Session, April 19, at 6 p.m. The event will be held in the Workforce Training Center, Room WT215, at the College’s Branchburg campus.
Launching this fall, RVCC’s Associate of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) will prepare students to transfer into New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (NJIT) Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology. RVCC has a formal articulation agreement with NJIT, so RVCC graduates may transfer seamlessly with junior status into either the Mechanical Engineering Technology or the Manufacturing Engineering Technology track at NJIT.
“Students who obtain an MET degree from RVCC have two paths. They can go directly into the workforce or they can easily transition to NJIT as a junior and obtain their bachelor’s degree,” said MET’s instructor and program coordinator, Tony D’Angelo, who is a graduate of both RVCC and NJIT.
The MET program emphasizes hands-on instruction and applied technical problem-solving, so it’s is an excellent option for students who are interested in engineering and want a more hands-on experience.
“The Mechanical Engineering Technology program is a great opportunity for students who want to focus on the applied side of mechanical engineering. The RVCC-NJIT partnership ensures that students not only have a seamless transition in their education, but also a faculty team that will continuously improve the program and course offerings. This structure is critical in order to stay up to date in the ever changing STEM marketplace,” said Sam Lieber, PhD, PE, Associate Professor and Acting Chair, School of Applied Engineering & Technology, New Jersey Institute of Technology.
RVCC’s industry-certified Advanced Manufacturing curriculum also is incorporated into the MET program, which prepares students for careers in design, manufacturing, production engineering, test and evaluation, operations, maintenance, technical marketing, sales, and more. The program features small classes, taught by qualified faculty, in the College’s state-of-the-art facilities.
“The MET program gives learners the opportunity to do hands-on training that will make them more employable when they graduate. A student graduating with an MET degree from RVCC will move to the front of the line for an employer,” said Conrad Mercurius, Director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing, Raritan Valley Community College.
Classes for RVCC’s Fall 2023 Semester begin August 30.
Advance registration for the April 19 Open House and Information Session is not required. For additional information about the new Mechanical Engineering Technology program, contact Tony D’Angelo at Anthony.D’Angelo@raritanval.edu.
