RVCC to Hold Annual Giving Day, with Return of Match Challenge
Raritan Valley Community College will be celebrating its 8th Annual “Giving Day” on March 21, and this year the “match challenge” is back, thanks to two generous benefactors—Jim and Jill Gibson of Basking Ridge and The Caruso Family Foundation—whose combined gifts will provide $50,000 in matching funds to support RVCC Giving Day 2024. If the RVCC community can raise $50,000, the $50,000 match funds are added to the fundraising total.
“We’re believers in Raritan Valley Community College and its impact and we’re happy to support Giving Day 2024,” said Jim Gibson. “And we hope our gift motivates others to give generously on March 21.”
“We are grateful to have such caring supporters of RVCC,” said Michael J. McDonough, President, Raritan Valley Community College. “The exceptional generosity of Jim and Jill Gibson and The Caruso Family Foundation in providing the $50,000 match challenge promises to once again transform our Giving Day fundraising.”
“The Caruso Family Foundation is honored to lend our support to RVCC’s Giving Day. The positive impact RVCC has on the lives of its students and our community is immeasurable and instrumental,” said a spokesperson for the family.
Members of the community are invited to participate in this 24-hour, online fundraising event organized by the RVCC Foundation. Last year, RVCC had another record-setting Giving Day, netting $165,985 to help students, programs, and priorities of RVCC.
“This is the one day of the year when we ask the collective community to come together in a single 24-hour period and rally its support of the College,” said Mike Marion, Executive Director, RVCC Foundation and RVCC Alumni Association. “It is an amazing thing to witness; in fact, Giving Day has become our biggest fundraising event of the year,” added Marion.
RVCC Giving Day 2024 donors may select from a wide range of College programs, student clubs, RVCC Athletic teams, and other initiatives they wish to support, including the Student Resource Center and Food Pantry, The Pray Family Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement at RVCC, Honors College, and Workforce Training Center, and a range of scholarship offerings. Donors can also “write in” their giving preferences if they don’t see it on the website. This year’s Giving Day campaign also offers corporate sponsorship opportunities, with branding on the RVCC Giving Day website and in the Foundation’s social media and email messaging.
“RVCC Giving Day is integral to the College’s culture of service, philanthropy, and difference-making,” said Marion. “We cannot be more appreciative of Jim and Jill Gibson and The Caruso Family Foundation, for their generosity, and for modeling the behavior and values we seek to instill in our students. That may be the ultimate gift.”
Those interested in being counted as a donor on RVCC Giving Day 2024 should visit www.raritanval.edu/givingday on March 21 and make a minimum gift of $10. Donors also may text RVCC to 71777 to donate from their phone, using any major credit or debit card.
