to space and back

The Raritan Valley Community College Planetarium in Branchburg will present a new star show in November, “To Space and Back,” Saturdays, November 2, 9, 16, and 23, at 7 p.m.

Recommended for audiences ages 10 to adult, “To Space and Back” takes viewers on an exploration of space to discover a universe of unimaginable scale and beauty. Participants will experience an incredible journey from the far reaches of our known universe to Earth. The technology that transports human beings through space is paving the way for the devices and apps we use every day. What’s happening above and beyond is coming back down to Earth.

In addition, the Planetarium will present star shows and laser concerts throughout the month for all ages, including some for children as young as three and their families; a laser show highlighting Beatles music; a special sensory-friendly astronomy and music show for families with children on the Autism spectrum or those with developmental disabilities; and a guided meditation experience in the Planetarium’s comfortable, reclined seats.

The Planetarium recently installed new computers, video projectors, and audio speakers that will provide audiences with an exciting, immersive experience. The new system provides brighter, clearer images and sharper sound quality, as well as an enhanced ability to “fly” through the Universe. The upgrade was funded through the RVCC Foundation by a generous RVCC supporter.

The Planetarium will be closed Thanksgiving weekend, November 28-December 1.
