Honor Society Receives Awards at Regional, International Conventions
Raritan Valley Community College’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society has received several top honors at conventions held this spring. This year's PTK officer team included President Jordan Nussbaum, Executive Vice President Olivia O'Donnell, Vice President of Leadership & Fellowship Mikaela Lijo, and officer team members Andrew Demcher and Anna Quezada.
In March, RVCC’s chapter was ranked #1 for its College Project and Honors in Action Project and also was named Most Distinguished Chapter at the Middle States Regional Convention, held in Harrisburg, PA. In addition, Dr. Sara Banfield and Janelle Bitter were recognized as a Distinguished Advisor Team.
The honors continued at the International Catalyst Convention, held in early April in Orlando, FL. RVCC’s chapter was recognized with the Distinguished College Project and Distinguished Honors in Action Project, as well as the Beta Alpha Award for Continued Excellence. The Beta Alpha prize is awarded to chapters that have been ranked in the top 50 Distinguished Chapters for three years in a row.
Dr. Sara Banfield and Janelle Bitter again were recognized as a Distinguished Advisor Team, and the chapter was ranked 4th Runner Up to Most Distinguished Chapter. That honor signifies that RVCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter is ranked the #5 chapter out of nearly 1,300 chapters worldwide.
