Several members of the Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) faculty have received promotions for their hard work and dedication to the College. The RVCC Board of Trustees has approved the promotions of the following faculty members:

Anne Marie Anderson of Tewksbury, Business & Public Service Department, from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor: Anderson served for six years as the advisor to the award-winning Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at RVCC and chairs the Business and Public Service Department. Prior to teaching, Anderson, a CPA, worked for a Big 4 accounting firm in the field of international tax. Anderson received a BS in Accounting from Montclair State University and an MS in Taxation from Seton Hall University.

Isabel Gutiérrez of Bethlehem, PA, Humanities, Social Science & Education Department, from Instructor to Assistant Professor: A psychology professor, Gutiérrez also conducts research that includes how cultural and/or religious beliefs play a significant role in the way children understand and cope with death. She received a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She also completed a three-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Northwestern University.

Jay Kelly of Readington, Science & Engineering Department, from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor: Kelly teaches a variety of courses in ecology, environmental science and field biology at RVCC. His main areas of interest are the conservation of rare plants and other species in New Jersey; ecology and management of forests, beaches and other ecosystems; plastic marine pollution; and toxins in consumer products. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a PhD in Ecology and Evolution from Rutgers University.

Carl Lindskoog of Teaneck, Humanities, Social Science & Education Department, from Instructor to Assistant Professor: Lindskoog teaches courses in Latin American, African American, and United States history. A specialist in immigration, race, and ethnicity in the United States and Latin America, he is completing a book titled Haitian Refugees and the Rebirth of Immigrant Detention in the United States, 1973 to 2000. He received his PhD from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.

Antonella Pompo of Piscataway, Science & Engineering Department, from Associate Professor to Professor: Pompo teaches engineering courses and is the coordinator of the Engineering program. Before moving to the US, Pompo taught senior engineering courses at the University of Naples and Potenza (Italy) while working on research projects involving high performance polymers and cements. She received a BS in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Naples.

Tracy Rimple, Business & Public Service Department, from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor: Rimple serves as the Sam Walton Fellow to the award-winning Enactus RVCC team. She also serves as the New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education’s Northern NJ coordinator at RVCC, as well as an Executive Board Member of the NJ Coalition for Financial Education. She is part of a group of professors working on a service learning grant from The Teagle Foundation. She received a BS from Shippensburg University and an MBA from Rosemont College.

Virginia Smith of Ewing, Visual and Performing Arts Department, from Instructor to Assistant Professor: Smith has worked in a variety of design fields including environmental graphics, exhibit design, and commercial design. She also taught at Drexel University and Philadelphia University. Smith created RVCC’s Associate of Science in Interior Design program and serves as its coordinator. She continues to practice interior design, focusing on technology and visualization of architectural spaces. She received a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Hartford and an MS in Interior Design from Drexel University.

Elliot Stetson of Flemington, Health Science Education Department, from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor: Stetson, RN-BC, CCRN, has been a nurse for 30 years, focusing on the area of critical care/trauma. A nursing instructor for 22 years, Stetson received his MSN from SUNY Downstate. He is continuing his education in a doctoral program at Walden University.  

Peter Stupak of Piscataway, Science & Engineering Department, from Instructor to Assistant Professor: Stupak enjoyed a 22-year career in the fiber-optics manufacturing industry, living and working in seven countries where he held a variety of technical and business-management positions. Stupak teaches physics and engineering courses at RVCC and also serves as the chief technology officer of an optical fiber factory in Suzhou, China. He received a BS in Chemistry and an MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Raritan Valley Community College’s main campus is located at 118 Lamington Road in Branchburg, NJ. Serving Somerset and Hunterdon County residents for close to 50 years, RVCC is an educational and cultural center that is nationally recognized for its innovative programming, service to the community and environmental leadership.
