Dr. Melanie Lenahan, Raritan Valley Community College Professor of Biology, is sharing her expertise with two National Science Foundation (NSF) grant proposals that recently have been funded, paving the way for impactful research and initiatives in her field.

Dr. Lenahan will be a co-Principal Investigator (PI) for “Fostering a Mentorship Network for Evidence-Based Instructional Practices,” which is an RCN-UBE (Research Coordination Network-Undergraduate Biology Education) Incubator.

According to the professor, “the goal is to create a faculty learning community to foster collaborations that enhance the understanding, confidence, and implementation of evidence-based instructional practices (EBIPs) at two- and four-year institutions.”

Dr. Lenahan is also part of the organizing committee for the second project, “Building Leadership Capacity For STEM Education Innovation at Two-Year Colleges,” which is part of an inaugural Innovation in Two-Year College (ITYC) STEM Education initiative.

The project is designed to build leadership capacity and facilitate NSF proposal submission among two-year college STEM faculty. For additional information, visit https://new.nsf.gov/news/us-national-science-foundation-investing-145m-inaugural.
