Michelle Edgar, Program Specialist for the Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Raritan Valley Community College, has been honored with a 2023 Eleanor Roosevelt Volunteer Service Award. Edgar received the award at the annual Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner, held October 10 at the Somerville Elks Lodge. Edgar, a resident of Somerville, was nominated and presented with the award by the Somerset County Federation of Democratic Women.

The October 10 event, which featured First Lady of the State of New Jersey, Tammy Murphy, as keynote speaker, recognized women who are making a tremendous impact for their local Democratic parties throughout Somerset County. Nominees are Somerset County Democratic women who are working to improve their communities, encourage engagement, and help elect Democrats to all levels of government.

Edgar was honored for her ongoing commitment to the Democratic Party in Somerville, which included years of distributing flyers, phone banking, and contacting neighbors to help garner support for Democratic political candidates.
