Getting Started with Instructional Design (Online)
This introductory course demystifies the field of instructional design and its career paths. Participants learn how to build learner personas, write measurable learning objectives, storyboard content, and explore learning management systems and authoring tools. Each student works with a real or simulated project, so they can immediately apply core concepts and leave with tangible artifacts for their portfolio or teaching practice.

Instructional Design in Action (Online)
Designed as a follow-up to the introductory course, this will give participants hands-on practice building multimedia learning experiences. Students work with tools for web content, video, screen capture, and graphic design while also addressing accessibility, learner control, and responsible AI use in course design. The course culminates in a showcase of a cumulative project that can be used in a portfolio or a real instructional setting.

Pilates for Health and Wellbeing introduces students to the fundamental principles and practices of Pilates as a method for building core strength, improving postural alignment, and increasing overall body awareness. This structured movement course is designed to develop core strength, flexibility, and proper postural alignment through a series of deliberate, low-impact exercises. Students will learn to integrate breath, concentration, control, and body awareness through Pilates techniques that boost stability, coordination, and muscular endurance.
This class provides a welcoming and supportive environment for developing stability, flexibility, and balanced muscular engagement. It aims to improve functional movement patterns and support lifelong physical health, overall wellness, and injury prevention, making it beneficial for people of all fitness levels. The Pilates class is part of RVCC’s ongoing effort to promote lifelong health and fitness in the community.
Interested students and community members can enroll in the course through the RVCC Community Education Program for just $400, covering 30 one-hour classes. This offers an affordable and accessible opportunity for those looking to improve their physical health and well-being. The course is also available for college credit (DANC 109) for those who want to earn college credit. The course will be taught live. Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.
About Your Instructor
Cathy Wdowiak is an accomplished Pilates instructor and holistic wellness professional with over 15 years of experience helping others improve strength, balance, and overall well-being. Her fitness journey began in 2008 after a life-changing car accident, which led her to Pilates and inspired her to help others rebuild strength, restore balance, and find renewed confidence in their bodies.
Cathy has taught and managed programs in boutique studios, wellness centers, and luxury resorts. She is also the owner of Heart N Soul Holistic Pilates and Wellness Studio in Clinton, New Jersey, where she integrates one-on-one mindful movement and holistic healing to support recovery, empowerment, and personal growth.
