RVCC TO PRESENT ?ABILITIES EXPO?
The public is invited to attend Raritan Valley Community College?s (RVCC) first ?Abilities Expo? Tuesday, October 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free Expo will be held in the College Center (lower level hallway, across from the Bookstore) at the College?s North Branch Campus.
The event will feature a number of community organizations that provide services to those with disabilities, including Somerset County Office of Disability Services; COSAC (Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community); Adaptive Technologies Center for New Jersey Colleges at TCNJ; NAMI (National Association of Mental illness); New Jersey Council for Developmental Disabilities; and the Spina Bifida Association of the Tri-State Region.
The program will include a 12 p.m. lecture by Mark E. Smith, author of Making the Most of It: The 11 Keys to Mastering Disability and Life . The free lecture, which is open to the public, will be held in the Atrium (lower level, College Center). Born with severe cerebral palsy, Smith is a true disability icon and is among the most widely recognized writer in the disability genre. The message of Making the Most of It is that people didn?t choose their disability, but they can choose how they live with it.
