RVCC TO OFFER YOUTH FINE & PERFORMING ARTS CLASSES

Raritan Valley Community College?s (RVCC) Corporate & Continuing Education (CCE) division will be offering a variety of fine and performing arts programs this winter and spring for children ages 6-17. The following programs will be held:

Cartooning: Students ages 6-12 learn the skills necessary to create their own cartoon character. Cartooning techniques using pencil, markers, acrylic and watercolor paints, inks and clay are explored. The class will be held Fridays, February 22 to April 11, from 4-5:30 p.m. The fee is $92. No class will be held March 21 and 28.

The World of Art: Students ages 6-12 explore cultures from around the world by creating an art form indigenous and unique to that part of the world. The class will be held Thursdays, February 28 to April 10, from 4-5:30 p.m. The fee is $92. No class will be held March 27.

Techniques of the Masters: Students ages 6-12 explore and study the varied techniques of famous artists. The class will be held Wednesdays, February 27 to April 9, from 4-5:30 p.m. The fee is $92. No class will be held March 26.

Metal Embossing: Students ages 8-11 use tools, arm strength and creativity to emboss a design on metal. The class will be held Saturdays, February 23 to March 15, from 10-11:30 a.m. The fee is $74.

Life Beyond the Curtain: Students ages 10-14 are introduced to self-expression, characterization, vocal projection, improvisation, script reading and the stage, and how these tools relate to the actor?s performance and discovering one?s own creative artistic spirit. The class will be held Tuesdays, February, 26 to April 15, from 4-5 p.m. The fee for the class is $95. No class will be held March 25.

Drum Set for Beginners: Students ages 11-15 learn to read standardized musical notation and apply it to the drum set while learning timing and coordination. The class will be held Tuesdays, February 19 to March 18, from 4-5:30 p.m. The fee is $115.

Drum Circle for Health & Recreation: Students ages 16 and older are taught how to use hand drumming to relieve stress, lift spirits, create community and promote general health. Students do not need to be drummers or musicians to participate. The class will be held Tuesdays, February 19 to March 18, from 6-8 p.m. The fee is $115.

Dramatic Dance: Students ages 13-17 explore the use of dance to assist them in handling school work and life issues with confidence. The class will be held Saturdays, February 23 to April 12, from 11 a.m.-noon The fee is $96. No class will be held March 22.
