Meet the Students

Amber L

RVCC Major:

Environmental Science. Named a 2018 Newman Civic Fellow as part of a national program that recognizes community-committed students

Transfer Plans:

Rutgers University for Ecology

Why I Love RVCC:

The campus is clean, spacious and easy to navigate. The atmosphere on campus is accepting and the small population allows people to really get to know each other and form lasting friendships. Plus, RVCC costs much less than a 4-year school, but the learning experience is just as solid.

Professors:

The professors are hardworking and give their all to students, which inspires me to work hard in order to meet their expectations.

Favorite Course:

Rainforest Ecology. Myself and nine other students had the opportunity to explore the rainforest in Brazil, which was such an inspiring experience!

RVCC Projects and Activities:

I joined and ran for President of the Environmental Club my first week at RVCC. I was able to form contacts with people working in environmental and biological sciences all over New Jersey. I have organized several community events, including Little Scientist Night—a science fair put on by the STEM clubs for elementary school students. Through the College I also earned a Student Enrichment Grant for a deer fence to protect an old growth forest patch on campus.
