RVCC is an open access institution. SAT scores, letters of recommendation or essays are not required for admission. Students are required to submit official, final high school transcripts.
Apply now online and follow these steps:
- Create a Login ID and Password by clicking on "First time user account creation"
- Complete requested information
- Submit application with $25 non-refundable application fee
After your application has been submitted, you can log into the Admissions System using your login and password and receive updates on the status of your application and admissions requirements.
You can also submit a hard copy application, along with the non-refundable $25 application fee, by mail, or in person. Mail the applications to RVCC Student Enrollment Center, PO Box 3300, Somerville, New Jersey 08876.
Applications will be accepted on an on-going basis. Once your application has been processed, you will receive an admissions packet from the College in the mail, along with a student ID number and instructions on registering for classes.
Students who are not seeking a degree or certificate:
If you are not interested in pursuing a degree or certificate at RVCC you may register for Spring 2011 or Summer 2011 beginning November 8, 2010 by using the Quick Admit Registration Form. Please be sure to indicate the term for which you are registering.
Non-degree seeking applicants are not required to submit proof of immunization, official high school or college transcripts or complete placement testing unless required as proof of meeting course prerequisites. Non-degreeseeking students are limited to 9 credits per semester and are not eligible for financial aid.
STEP 2 - Submit Copies of College Transcripts& Immunizations
Obtain official copies of your prior college transcripts. Official copies of your transcripts can be sent to RVCC Student Enrollment Center, PO Box 3300, Somerville, New Jersey 08876; or can be delivered in-person (need to be in a sealed envelope from the college).
Students who attended a foreign institution are required to submit an official evaluation from a foreign credential services recognized by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
If you have completed less than 12 college credits, you must also submit an official copy of your high school transcript to the Student Enrollment Center.

You must submit to the Student Enrollment Center proof of compliance with the State of New Jersey requirements for immunization for 2 doses of MMR (Measles, Mump & Rubella) and 3 doses of Hepatitis B or download the Immunization Record Form and bring it to your doctor to fill it out. (For full-time students only)
STEP 3 - Complete placement testing, if required
All students who are seeking a degree are required to take the Accuplacer placement tests for English and Mathematics prior to enrolling.
You do not need to take the reading and writing placement tests if you:
-Provide an SAT score report showing a "Verbal" or "Critical Reading" score of at least 540, or an ACT English score of at least 24
-OR provide proof of taking a college level English course, equivalent English placement exam, or at least 24 college credits plus math at a regionally accredited college.
You do not need to take the math placement test if you:
-Provide proof of taking a college-level math course or equivalent math placement exam at another regionally accredited college.
-OR provide an SAT score report showing you have a math score of 550 (or ACT math score of 23), enabling you to place into college-level math.You have the option to take the placement test for possible placement into the Calculus sequence.
- OR provide an SAT score of at least 530 but less than 550 (or ACT math score of 22) will place you into selected college level math courses or intermediate algebra (a developmental level course serves as a pre-requisites for Calculus or Statistics). This score range allows you the option of taking the math placement test for possible placement into a higher level course.
- OR provide an SAT score of at least 500 but less than 530 (or ACT math score of 21) enabling you to place Elementary algebra (a developmental math course). You have the option test for placement into a higher level course.
You should consult an academic advisor to determine the appropriate math requirements for your major.
The College code for submitting SAT & ACT test scores is 2867.
If your native language is not English you are required to take the Accuplacer Level of English Proficiency Placement Test prior to registering for classes.
Placement testing is conducted at our Testing Center on the North Branch Campus. No appointment is needed. Make sure to bring a picture ID.

STEP 4 - Meet with an Academic Advisor
Transfer students have the option of meeting with the academic advisor. Please call the Advising and Counseling services for an appointment. Be sure that the Student Enrollment Center has received official copies of your college transcripts in advance of the meeting or bring your transcripts with you. The advisor will review your transcripts and assist you in registering for classes.
STEP 5 - Register for Classes
If you placed into Developmental English or Math, or English as a Second Language, you will not be able to complete your first registration on-line; you may register by mail, fax, or in person. Some Developmental English Placements will require a meeting with an academic advisor. Click here for the Advising Drop- in Hours schedule.
New Part-time, Non-Degree Seeking Students
Non-degree seeking students are not required to meet with an advisor or take a placement test and can register for classes using the Quick Admit Registration Form found in the course schedule. You can register for classes in person, by fax or by mail. Registration is limited to 9 credits per semester.
Before registering for a class, check the course description for prerequisites. If prerequisites are required and you have not completed those prerequisites at RVCC, then you need to provide proof that you have completed them at another school. Proof includes a grade report or an academic transcript.

STEP 6 - Pay Your Tuition
Student must pay their full tuition & fees by the following dates:
Fall Semester: July 30 or at time of registration after July 30
Spring Semester: January 5 or at time of registration after January 5
Summer Semesters: March 15 or at time of registration after March 15
RVCC offers a Tuition Pay Monthly Payment Plan that enables you to spread out your payments. No interest is charged but there is an enrollment fee.
The College participates in all federal and state financial aid programs and also offers a number of scholarship opportunities.
