Raritan Valley Community College is exhibiting paintings by Robert Kirby, an RVCC student who died suddenly last month shortly before his 22nd birthday. The Scotch Plains resident was a student in RVCC?s Visual Arts program. The nine paintings are on display until December 3 in the lower level of Somerset Hall, across from the caf?, at the College?s North Branch Campus.

The paintings were completed while Kirby was a student in Professor Robert DiMatteo?s Acrylic & Oil Painting Class at RVCC. Kirby also had a strong interest in art history and contemporary art, as well as a passion for music and art from the 1960s. In recognition of his accomplishments, a ?Certificate of Achievement Toward the Degree of Associate of Fine Arts? was posthumously awarded to his parents.

RVCC, located on Route 28 and Lamington Road in North Branch, NJ, and serving Somerset and Hunterdon County residents for 40 years, offers more than 90 associate degrees and certificates. In addition, customized training programs and non-credit courses are available for those seeking personal and professional development.

The College is committed to offering a quality and affordable education through effective teaching, liaisons with the community?s businesses and state-of-the-art technology. For further information, visit www.raritanval.edu .
