RVCC SETS COURSES IN PARISH NURSING, BIOLOGY OF CANCER
The Allied Health Department of Raritan Valley Community College?s (RVCC) Corporate & Continuing Education (CCE) division will be offering a program in Parish Nursing/Health Ministry. The one-day course will be held Saturday, December 6, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at the College?s North Branch Campus.
Parish Nursing/Health Ministry offers an organized way to care for one?s health and to facilitate the holistic health of a congregation. The course trains nurses and interfaith leaders to establish programs that promote healthy lifestyles among congregation members. Parish Nursing/Health Ministry incorporates notions of wholeness in mind, body and spirit and celebrates the seasons of life within congregations.
The fee is $87. Upon completion of the course, a New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA) Certificate with 5 contact hours will be issued.
Corporate and Continuing Education at RVCC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center?s Commission on Accreditation. The Allied Health Department also will be offering the following courses:
The course covers the Fifth Edition of the ServSafe Essentials book. The program is designed for food service workers who are looking to pass the ServSafe exam. Upon completion of the course, a certificate from the National Restaurant Association will be awarded.

The Biology of Cancer
The course is designed for student nurses or others interested in learning about the biology of cancer. It focuses on events that interfere with cell cycle control, cancer therapies and the regulation of cell division through cell cycle control mechanisms.

Advanced Weight Training for Personal Fitness Trainers
Expand your weight training skills and design new programs for your clients. Learn how to explain the importance and benefits of alternating exercises for each major muscle group and adding new exercises to your repertoire.

Running Techniques for Fitness Professionals
Learn to use the physiology of running to assess and achieve optimal running form. Course topics include running program design and technique analysis, injury prevention and appropriate running shoes and apparel.

Business Selling Skills for Personal Fitness Trainers
Learn how to convert prospects to profits and refine your professional presentation. Course topics include the current state of the industry, the evolving role of personal trainers, pricing with a purpose, and the benefits and drawbacks of being a club employee vs. an independent trainer.

Nutritional Concepts for Fitness Professionals
The course is designed for personal trainers interested in educating clients about caloric intake, caloric burn, weight loss, weight gain and body fat percentages.
