RVCC FOUNDATION GOLF CLASSIC RAISES $50,000
The Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) Foundation raised $50,000 at its 2008 Golf Classic, held July 14 at the Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater. Commerce Bank was the Summa Cum Laude sponsor for the event, which was enjoyed by 100 enthusiastic golfers.
Other sponsors included PSE&G (golf balls sponsor), Hughes-Plumer & Associates (lunch sponsor), Commerce Bank (golf carts), Video Corporation of America (photography sponsor) and Motivated Security Services (beverage cart). Magna Cum Laude sponsors included Gilbane Building Co.; GPC, Inc.; and Somerset Medical Center.
The golfers tackled the challenging course and finished off the day with an elegant buffet dinner, a 50/50 raffle and a live auction. Bids for the area golf courses were coaxed from the crowd by auctioneer Harrie Copeland. Silent auction items included a Dell computer, hotel packages, gift certificates to four-star restaurants and sports tickets.
The RVCC Foundation raises private funds to assist the College in providing affordable, accessible and quality educational and cultural experiences for the community. Proceeds from the event will support special programs through the College?s Civic Engagement initiative, The Theatre at RVCC and Art Gallery, workshops, speakers and scholarships.
