RVCC STUDENT WINS NATIONAL OPTICAL SCHOLARSHIP
Abdallah Yeslam of Middletown, a student in Raritan Valley Community College?s (RVCC) Ophthalmic Science program, has been selected for the 2009 Transitions Students of Vision Scholarship Program.
As a fourth-place winner in the competition, Yeslam will receive a $500 scholarship and a trip to a September conference in Cincinnati sponsored by the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE). He received the award for his poster that addressed the ?Understanding Healthy Sight? theme and the importance of yearly eye exams.
RVCC offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Ophthalmic Science. Beginning in the Fall 2009 Semester, the College also will be offering an Ophthalmic Science Certificate program and an Ophthalmic Laboratory Technician Certificate of Completion program.
