RVCC TO OFFER VARIETY OF ALLIED HEALTH CAREER PROGRAMS

The Allied Health Department of Raritan Valley Community College?s (RVCC) Corporate & Continuing Education (CCE) division is offering a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) course. The 90-hour program will be held Wednesdays and Fridays, March 11-May 27, from 5:30-9:30 p.m., at the College?s North Branch Campus. Approved by the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services, the course prepares students for the NJ State competency evaluation and CNA licensure test. Certification allows people to work at long-term care facilities and other health care organizations. Cost to participate is $1,252.

The Allied Health Department also will be offering the following courses at the College?s North Branch Campus:

Pharmacy Technician:
The comprehensive, 90-hour course is designed to provide hands-on training to individuals who seek careers as Pharmacy Technicians (PT). The course involves 50 hours of classroom instruction, question/answer review and exam-taking practice, as well as 40 hours of practical experience in a pharmacy. This program is designed to enable students to successfully complete the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam.

9 a.m.-3 p.m.; $1,199

EKG Technician National Certification:
The 40-hour course prepares individuals to work as EKG Technicians in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, physicians? offices, clinics, sports medicine facilities, nursing homes and insurance companies. Upon successful completion of program, students are eligible to sit for the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT) National exam. There is an additional charge for the ASPT National exam that is not included in the course fees.

Elder Mediation?The Role of the Health Care Professional as a Neutral Third-Party Expert:
Courts are increasingly turning to mediation as a viable mechanism for resolving familial conflict, including elder care disputes. The course provides health care professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and appreciate the mediation process. Saturday, March 21
