RVCC DEDICATES WELCOME CENTER TO HONOR AREA DONOR
Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) has dedicated its newly refurbished welcome center to recognize the generous contributions of Trudy Mannheimer of Watchung. The ?Mannheimer Welcome Center,? located in the lower of Somerset Hall at the College?s North Branch Campus, recognizes a lifetime of quiet philanthropy by Mrs. Mannheimer and her late husband, Walter.
Mrs. Mannheimer?s most recent gift to the College, a $50,000 contribution, is a tribute to her late husband.
?Raritan Valley Community College is dedicated not only to growing students, but also to growing citizens,? said RVCC President Dr. Casey Crabill. ?The Mannheimers? leadership in the community and support of the College serve as a wonderful example for all of our students.?
Trudy Mannheimer was on hand June 26 to unveil the new Welcome Center sign and a plaque that includes the following words from Mrs. Mannheimer: ?We have been dedicated to helping young people have a chance for a better life. Education is the pathway to that better life.?
Both immigrants to the United States from Germany, the Mannheimers made their home in Watchung, where they contributed to numerous community groups and were known for their devotion to public service. The couple established the Lewis J. Gray Memorial Scholarship Foundation, which has provided scholarships to students attending RVCC.
RVCC, located on Route 28 and Lamington Road in North Branch, NJ, and serving Somerset and Hunterdon County residents for close to 40 years, offers more than 80 associate degrees and certificates. In addition, customized training programs and non-credit courses are available for those seeking personal and professional development.
The College is committed to offering a quality and affordable education through effective teaching, liaisons with the community?s businesses and state-of-the-art technology. For further information, visit www.raritanval.edu .
