Beginning in the Fall 2008 Semester, Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in North Branch will be offering new degree and certificate programs in Digital Media/Film Studies and Human Services.

The Associate of Science (AS) in Digital Media/Film Studies is designed to prepare students to transfer to media production and/or film studies programs at four-year colleges and universities. It also prepares students for entry-level jobs in a variety of communications fields, including video and digital media production. The 62-credit program includes general education courses, as well as more specialized art, communication and computer science classes in such areas as film appreciation, two-dimensional design, lighting and sound, video production and interactive multimedia.

RVCC also will be offering a Certificate and Certificate of Completion in Human Services. The 15-credit Certificate of Completion is designed for those who currently work in a human services setting but do not have a college degree. Students may tailor the program to meet their immediate career needs in the fields of disability, gerontology, child welfare or other social service settings.

The 33-credit Certificate in Human Services is designed for direct support professionals currently working in a human services setting, as well as those interested in going directly into human services without pursuing additional education. The program includes general education courses, as well as classes in such areas as social work, human behavior, interviewing and counseling skills, psychology, sociology and nutrition. RVCC also offers an Associate of Arts in Human Services-Pre-Social Work Option.
