RVCC TO PRESENT FACULTY-STUDENT DANCE CONCERT FEATURING CHOREOGRAPHY BY GUEST ARTIST RANDY JAMES

The Visual and Performing Arts Department at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) will present the Faculty-Student Dance Concert, Wednesday and Thursday, April 30 and May 1, at 8 p.m. The event will be held in the Nash Theatre at the College?s North Branch Campus.

More than 100 students?from beginning levels to semi-professional?will perform in original dances choreographed by both RVCC faculty and students. The concert features many dance styles, including ballet, modern and jazz, and is the culmination of the semester's work in RVCC?s Modern Dance, Ballet, Jazz and Choreography classes.

The Raritan Valley Dance Ensemble (RVDE) will present two pieces from its touring repertory, ?What?s all this?? and ?Just Two.? Both have been choreographed by Loretta Di Bianca Fois, the director of the Ensemble. RVDE tours local schools and community groups each semester and performs at campus events. In conjunction with the Visual and Performing Arts Department, RVDE provides the College and greater community with opportunities to experience and appreciate live dance performance.

In addition, the program features choreography by guest artist Randy James. A full-time assistant professor of Dance at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, James has received the New Jersey Governor?s Award in Arts Education. His piece, ?It is what it is,? is being performed by RVCC students and features original music by David Homan.
